Samuel Nouhan was born into a Detroit family steeped in the automotive industry, with parents, aunts and uncles working in management, in assembly plants or owning and operating car dealerships. After graduating from law school, Samuel began his career as a Federal Judicial Law Clerk in the Federal District Court in Detroit for two years, followed by the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals for one year. He later defended major corporations in a national product liability law firm as an Associate Attorney and Partner, in lawsuits involving cars, motorcycles, watercraft, ATV’s, tractors and power-take-off-operated agricultural equipment.
He served as Chief of Litigation for Wayne County, Michigan, the 11th largest county in the nation and larger than 16 states, where he handled various tort claims and represented police officers in constitutional use of force cases, obtaining defense verdicts in seven jury trials in Detroit. He has appeared as counsel, and has taken dozens of cases to verdict, in some of the most challenging forums in the country. He is a graduate of the University of Detroit School of Law, where he served as Executive Editor of the Law Review and as a brief writer and oralist for the National Moot Court Team.
Samuel and his wife, Patricia, have three children. In his spare time, Samuel enjoys fishing with his kids and riding a mountain bike on local trails. He also relishes the wide-open blue skies of the Western United States and has become an accomplished antelope hunter.
