Greg Gilmer’s legal and trial experience as both in-house counsel and at national and local law firms allows him to develop sound legal strategies to defend product liability and mass tort lawsuits on a local and national level while protecting and strengthening the company's key objectives and philosophies. He resolves challenging, high-profile cases by applying innovative yet practical settlement strategies, or by going to trial. He is also skilled in proactive counseling to minimize litigation risks at the design, development, and manufacturing stages.

Greg was a partner in a national product liability law firm, defending major corporations through trial in product liability and personal injury cases involving the design and manufacture of products such as automobiles, aircrafts, trucks, ATVs, recreational vehicles, power equipment and toxic chemicals. Most recently, Greg was in-house counsel for a major automobile, powersports and power equipment manufacturer, primarily responsible for defending complex product liability litigation and managing its warranty litigation. Greg was an integral member of the company's Takata litigation defense team, which involved the largest recall in the industry, and was a subject matter specialist for seatback, airbag, ADAS and powersport litigation. Greg brings a unique perspective to his cases as a national trial attorney who tried cases to verdict before moving in-house and managing cases to verdict.

Greg is a seatback litigation specialist, beginning with his involvement with Romine v. Johnson Controls, Inc., where he was part of the defense team for the automobile manufacturer. During his time as defense counsel at a national product liability firm, he worked with client engineers and experts to develop defense design themes, developed discovery strategies, tested California’s determination that seatback cases could be tried under the Consumer Expectation test, and formed relationships with key plaintiffs’ attorneys. He expanded his expertise through his in-house counsel role where he prepared engineers for deposition and trial testimony regarding issues as varied as seat strength design theory, developmental and regulatory testing, state-of-art defenses, Senatorial intervention, and NHTSA proposed rulemaking. He also developed litigation and resolution strategies, created demonstrative crash testing, and proactively counseled associates to minimize liability risks. In addition, Greg has extensive ADAS knowledge, starting with his involvement managing the litigation in Dashi v. Nissan North America, Inc. et. al. on behalf of another automotive manufacturer. Greg has worked with engineers to develop one manufacturer’s ADAS origin story.

Greg lives in Manhattan Beach, CA with his wife of 20 plus years, Carrie, and his two teenage children, Grant and Paige. He enjoys traveling, watching his kids play sports, playing softball and running with his husky, Leo.
