Nathaniel J. Haynes is a litigator in Klein Thomas Lee & Fresard’s Detroit office. He has a wide range of experience in the courtroom, in the regulatory field, and advising sophisticated clients. Nathaniel began his practice in Alaska as a public defender, handling cases from arraignment through trial. Then, as an Assistant Attorney General in the environmental section, he provided full-service representation to Alaska's environmental agency and led his office's Cruise Ship Program and Oil Spill Contingency Plan Program. Most recently, upon returning to Michigan, he served as a law clerk to Justice David F. Viviano on the Michigan Supreme Court.
Nathaniel was raised in metro-Detroit, graduating from Michigan State University in 2013. After one year at MSU College of Law, he transferred to Lewis & Clark Law School where he graduated magna cum laude with a Certificate in Environmental and Natural Resources Law. While in law school, he served on the executive board of Lewis & Clark's flagship law review journal, externed with the school's environmental clinic, and won multiple awards at a national moot court competition.
Nathaniel spends much of his free time exploring metro-Detroit with friends and family. He also enjoys both playing and watching organized sports
